As the general cynical person I have become thanks to hype in gaming, the announcement of Legion leaves a rather... bored taste in my mouth. I'll admit, things seem cool. You got your Demon Hunters, something about Honor Systems rebalanced, a few significant interesting lore tid bits... (Blizzard, I'm taking what you said about this being bigger than War of the Ancients serious.)
The problem is, WoD. Some things sound cool, but... have they learned enough from last expansion's mistakes? It is more than restated enough that it was rushed, but that is a tragedy in of itself. The ending of WoD could have remained, but I feel a long build up was needed. The Iron Horde and Legion were knocked out like no freaking tomorrow.
Needless to say, I need to say something. Back around... Cataclysm? I made a statement to a friend that WoW would decline at some point, once they started running low on villains. You only have so many Arthas' and Illidans. (Which doesn't mean much now, since Guldan and co came back thanks to alt reality, Illidan is apparently on a return path, and yada yada yada.)
Holy crap, I did not believe it would tank this soon. A few expansions beyond Cata, sure. But after Mists, geez did things seemingly tank out of control.
I don't play too much these days, but I keep it my business to maintain an eye on the game that inspired a decent amount of the AoD Mythos I have built up. I'm hoping that Legion shatters my expectations. Even if it does well, I'm content to watch from the sidelines now. I don't know if I could ever really go back and stay. There just feels like too much. But I'm still following this awesome game to its conclusion. See ya.
